Richard Dorfman is the founder of Richard Alan Incorporated. He began his career in 1987 as an investment banker at Broadview Associates specializing in mergers and acquisitions involving information services and information technology companies. He was also the firm’s Director of Valuation Services. In 1994, Mr. Dorfman joined Jefferies & Company as Senior Vice President for mergers and acquisitions where he expanded his practice to include media and entertainment companies. He has been involved as either principal or advisor in dozens of transactions and has developed a sizable network of contacts in the venture capital and private equity communities.

Mr. Dorfman is currently on the Board of Directors of Curious Pictures and is a former board member of Proxy Monitor, the predecessor to Institutional Shareholder Services. He is also Chairman of TransMedia Institute, a research and analysis firm specializing in the media industry, and Fund Manager at Maxsar Holdings, a private investment firm that invests in publicly-traded media companies.

Mr. Dorfman is frequently quoted in the press, and his comments have appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Bloomberg News, CNN Money and TheStreet.com, among others. He holds an undergraduate degree from Columbia University and a Masters in Business Administration from New York University.
