PARSIPPANY, N.J., Aug 05, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
T3i Group LLC, an investor-backed
company formed by financier Richard Dorfman, announced today that it has
acquired the Telecom Intelligence Group (TIG) division of Access Intelligence.
The acquisition closed on Aug. 1, 2008.
TIG is a leading provider of market research, data, analysis, and
consulting and advisory services to the telecommunications industry. It has a
global client base and counts among its clients some of the world's largest
telecommunications equipment manufacturers and service providers. TIG conducts
its business through four operating units - Tarifica, TelecomTactics,
TelecomWeb and InfoTech. Effective immediately, TIG's name has been changed to
T3i Group.
T3i Group is a newly formed entity established specifically to make this
acquisition. Its investors include Robert C.S. Monks, former Chairman of the
Board of Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS); Dwight Allison, a former
Board member of, and investor in, ISS; and James Heard, former CEO of ISS.
They will join fellow investor Richard Dorfman on the new company's Board.
Michael O'Neill and Susan Hobart, members of TIG's senior management team, are
also investors in T3i Group and will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day
operations along with John Lilley, who heads the London office, and Debra
Baker, editor in chief of TelecomWeb.
"We are very excited about this acquisition because we see great
opportunities to expand TIG's business around the globe," commented Dorfman,
who is Managing Director of Richard Alan Incorporated and who will now serve
as Chairman of T3i Group. Dorfman, in addition to his investment activities,
is also founder of TransMedia Institute, a think tank dedicated to the study
and analysis of the digital revolution occurring in the communications
industry. He continued, "We believe T3i Group with its robust databases,
mission-critical reports and thought-leading analysts is well-positioned, as a
result of these rapid technological changes, to become an even more vital
resource for industry participants in the years to come."
"The new investor group has extensive experience in successfully growing
similar information companies, and we are confident that they will be able to
help extend our business into new practice areas and geographic locations,"
said Michael O'Neill, who will serve as T3i Group's CEO.
Donald Pazour, CEO of Access Intelligence, added, "TIG was not a close
strategic fit with the rest of our business, and we are pleased to announce
its sale to T3i Group, whose investors have shown an ability to successfully
grow and operate information industry companies. We will be maintaining a
minority equity interest in the new entity."
